We have lived in this beautiful city for 24 years. I love where we live. It is secluded and private with different trees all around. No one can “just drive” by, it’s off the road. Even though we are in town, it has the feel of a country home. In the mornings, the sun comes through the bedroom window and the cool breeze is refreshing. It is a great place to spend quiet time with the Lord. I love it all, except the TRAIN ! Can someone help me to find the peace in that? The tracks are very close. I try to picture a long, lonesome train, a locomotive destined for some far away place, but ya know…it’s loud and screeching and “metally” if that is a word…it’s distracting. It passes after a while and then it becomes peaceful again…Any ideas??? Beside moving, out of the question.

Hi Barb! So cool that you started a blog!
Sorry I don’t have any advice about the train noise. I live even closer to it than you, but it doesn’t bother me at all. I’ve lived with that noise since I was 8 years old, so I guess it just feels like “home” to me.
My son has also turned it into a very positive thing. He loves trains! He’ll notice that one is going by, even when I don’t hear it. We’ll run to the window or out onto the porch to watch it go by sometimes.
I hope you can find some way to make peace with this noise! Maybe some people just never “get used to it.”
I love this. I have been to your house and it is, all that you say. I love the train.
The train is just a, maybe not so pleasant reminder, that there is another inconvenient world out there, waiting for us to deal with. It will pass.
Consider it a sonata, the clickety clack of steel wheels on a steel track.
A lullaby if you will.
A steel wheel song, that will soon be gone.

Annie–Thank you so much for stopping by. I keep up with your blog about twice a week. I love it. Thank you for the comment. It’s not that I really hate it, just a destraction in my little peaceful world at times.
Love you…B
Sue — Thank you. You always have that “cup half full” attitude. I love that. Your comment though sent my head into a song….”big wheel keep on turnin’ “, (I know that is not about a train, but nevertheless, my head went there…
Love you…B
There was a train next to a church we once attended. The pastor studied “Experiencing God” and read that God is always moving so must we to keep up with Him. Everytime the train went by during services the pastor would announce, “God is on the move again. Let’s keep up with Him! God bless the train.”
Truevyne..Thank you so much for stopping by. I feel priviledged. Now that is a great idea! Now when that train rolls by, I will remember what you said, and in my mind will jump on that train of the Lord and hang on tight!
Thank you again..Barb
Trains also reminds me of the cacophonies of life, but praise God for those precious quiet times because He makes the ride smooth and the sounds a splendor to behold!
my great aunt and uncle live in a peaceful wooded area of Louisiana and it is my favourite place to be. they also live nearby a train track. Ever since I can remember, as a family, we would hear the train coming from a far off and we’d hurry to a safe observing distance. We’d hear the rustling sounds of the train cars shifting and us kids were instructed to count the number of cars that passed by. My great aunt always told us that if we made a wish and we correctly counted the number of train cars, then our wish would come true. It was always a fun activity that our family did. So, nowadays, every time I hear a train, I don’t hear it for the “metally” distraction that I understand it can sometimes be. Instead, I tie it to the sweet family memories from my childhood. So, perhaps you can try to make a family memory to associate trains with.
