Nostalgia
May 9, 2008 by 6justmyopinion
I feel nostalgic today. It’s a really good day. Zion and I have been outside all morning. We watered, played with the dogs and planted some daisies, yellow.
As we were playing in the dirt, (those simple things I love) we were “deadheading ” the blossoms and checking out how God made them. I was reminded about those things I did as a child. Things like taking my Mom’s Calli Lilies and coloring them with pastel chalk dust to make them different colors, or digging to China and really planning on what to do when I got there. We collected “rolly pollies” and put yams in bowls with toothpicks and watched them sprout and grow. Things were slower and simple. I miss that. Do you think it is possible to try and bring that back…maybe every now and then in my own life and with my grands? I know I was extremely happy to know that Blue had been the first in our family to see a firefly.
I was excited that he could show me the wonder of that. I will never forget it, though he may. I hope not.
Anyway, that’s what I feel today. Zion wrote his Tennessee cousins a letter and I will mail it today. I do miss my Tennessee kids alot today. That nostalgia stuff, sometimes it feels really good and sometimes, it hurts some.

This is a really nice post, Barb. I think I know what you mean about that nostalgia stuff…I agree…”sometimes it feel really good and sometimes, it hurts some.”

Hey, I left you a response to your comment over at my blog concerning widgets, etc. Hopefully, I have given you “a place to start.” Let me know how it’s going! (I think I may have to review some stuff myself!)
Blessings,

What a beautiful picture Barb - almost takes one’s breath away.
I just smiled and felt warm, loved inside reading this sweet post. It made me think so much about my mom and grandma and all those wonderful “simple things” memories I share with them. My Grandma Ruth is the one who taught me how to “dead head” properly and to this day, every time I do it, I think of her. Digging to China, “rolly pollies,” and yams -
yep!
I pray you have a super mother’s day. It must be hard to have half your “babies” all the way in TN. I’m sure your heart aches a little more on special days. I can tell what a blessed mom and grandma you are. Your kiddos and grands are being shown Jesus through you. What a gift you’re giving!

Hey Barb,
I left you some more instructions about the “text” widget over at my blog.
I think with that info. you should be able to add the verse, but unfortunately, I can’t remember right now how to add the images to it. I remember fiddling with it for a while to get it right!
I’ve been a lot busier with the kids lately, while also not feeling as well. Therefore, even though I’ve wanted to add/change some things on my blog, I haven’t updated it in a while because of the time involved.
Anyway, I also recalled some other resources today that helped me:
If you look in the top right hand corner of your dashboard, you will find the following resource links:
–help
–forums
–support
I have used all of the above and all have been helpful. Hope these are to you, as well!
God Bless!
Janet
